A couple of months ago when a bunch of us went to see Jonny Lang the opener was a guy named Jon McLaughlin. He sounded good but none of us really paid that much attention to him because we were too busy catching up on each other’s lives since some of us hadn’t hung out in quite a long time. So a few weeks ago I caught the video for his song ‘Beautiful Disaster’ and was completely blown away. I really regretted that I hadn’t watched his set when I had the chance.

This song has a certain brand of emotion that I’ve always found very attractive and have tried to achieve in many of my own songs. This flavor of sadness is particularly appealing to me.
