WOW! this sounds wonderful, drew! i’m so glad you finished it. now get to work on “i do”!
Wow…Drew, thanks so much for sharing this stuff for free. You have officially kicked my ass…
WOW WOW WOW…I COULD SLIDE THIS SONG IN WITH A BUNCH OF JELLYFISH TUNES AND A FAN WOULD SAY ..”HEY I DON’T HAVE THAT SONG IN MY COLLECTION, BURN ME A COPY…WOW WOW…..I LOVE IT..I’LL PROBABLY WEAR OUT A CD LISTENING TO IT
Thanks guys. That means a lot to me. I’m very happy you liked it.
Brian, I’ve actually already started on ‘I Do’. That’s the next one I’m tackling.
Listened to it on Friday, then had to give it some time before I listened to it again, which I did again today.
When I listened to it on Friday, I thought that the vocals were a bit subdued, if that makes any sense. You didn’t really seem to let loose like I am used to hearing, and was kind of looking for that when I heard you were going to do a song of this style.
Today, when I listened to it again, though, I do think the vocals work for the song. I love the Jellyfish spin on things, I think you did an awesome job capturing their spirit.
Personally, more of this kind of thing would be fantastic, but I’m sure you don’t want to overdo it.
Only thing I noticed is that there seems to be some distortion on the bass drum portion (on the MP3, maybe I should try the wav..) or maybe that is just the crappy stuff I have at work to listen with…
Overall, a great effort. Throughly enjoyed!
Following up on some of what Bleemus said — I’m used to your vocals being the star player and everything else playing a supporting role. There is no single star here, but the cast is spectacular. Such rich textures. Nice work . . .
Thanks again fellas. I think this song didn’t really lend itself to a big vocal performance. It’s just supposed to be kind of tender and understated. I tried not to stomp all over the lightness of the whole thing, though I’ve become quite good at stomping all over things.
