Macarena Shoes (sample)
A couple of weeks ago I posted a little bit of the demo for the song ‘Macarena Shoes’. Well today I recorded the official acoustic guitar and vocal tracks. Here is a sample what was recorded today. This is the last phrase of Verse 1 going into the Chorus.
A few days ago Jeff H (a regular reader and commenter on this blog) sent me a link to an interview with Steve Albini. This interview is a must see for anyone even remotely interested in how albums are made. He talks about everything from the RIAA to his salary to compression settings. The interview is about an hour long so it may take you a few sittings to get through it but it’s very much worth your time.
Yesterday I talked about important albums, Albini produced one very important album – PJ Harvey’s ‘Rid of Me’. That album is in my top ten for sure. Truly amazing.
And here’s the picture of the day. Yesterday’s was me when I was a sophmore or junior in high school. I think Angel was probably a junior in this picture.

Will any of these songs be available on your myspace?
I expected something called Macarena Shoes to be more upbeat. Oh, the irony . . .
It’s got a good sound, though . . .
Taylor, I assume that these songs will eventually end up on My Space but probably not before they’re completely finished.
I realize that the title of this song makes people think it’s going to be a joke but that’s alright. Hopefully people will see that this song is anything but funny. This may or may not be obvious to some but the song has absolutely nothing to do with the Macarena…or dancing for that matter.
That Steve Albini interview looks like it originates from a server at Middle Tennessee State University. I was about $3000 bucks and a signature away from going there for graduate school to get a Master of Fine Arts in Recording Arts and Technologies. Alas, the music industry was hitting a brick wall at the time and I decided against it.
You crazy Webster University kids and your silly little music dreams.
I think it would be the coolest thing to study sound engineering. I envy your brain Mr. Nunn.
