My PC Dies to Die Another Day
I think the good Lord is trying to teach me something about my computer reliance. Sunday morning He reached into my tower and pulled out my Windows kernel. All of my computer’s pain and suffering was immediately taken away. Now it just stares off into the distance.
My computer is dead. This has happened before, sort of. I built this computer myself to save some money and it’s been nothing but one headache after another ever since. As of right now I’m not sure what I’m going to do. As long as that computer is dead that means no recording, no posting pictures, no posting demos, and no sleep at night.
For now I’ll just be blogging from Angel’s computer, which I hate. Her monitor doesn’t even show black right. It’s probably a race thing.
Dude- I just went through the EXACT SAME THING. My hard drive died a painful death last week. I tried to decide if I should tryo to replace it but I noticed a PC in one of the flyers that was about $1100 and over twice as powerful as my previous machine so I just decided to bite the bullet and get a new one. Well, this new PC is loaded with the wonderful new fab Microsoft operating system WIndows Vista and it has been nothing but one huge PAIN IN THE ASS since I got it. After much tweaking and hair pulling I think I finally have it running pretty well and I think I am going to like it, but next time I will wait until they have a few years to work out the bugs in a new OS before I try it out…
Good luck!
Yo Drew. I do this kind of stuff for a living, if you need any assistance, I’d be willing to give it (free).
Later.
Jeff, I’ve been wanting to talk to someone who has used Vista to see what they thought. I’ve read that people have been having some pretty serious issues…especially gamers.
Bleemus, thank you very much for the offer. I’ve got your email address (I didn’t know you had your own site) and I may be tracking you down soon.
Good luck with the computer gremlins. Pray that your colon issues are ended. You don’t want to find out what happens when when the worlds of computer gremlins and instestinal gremlins converge . . .
The worst part about Vista so far is that it conflicts with many older apps and a lot of the companies that make apps have not updated their drivers for Vista yet. I couldn’t get McAfee Firewall to work at all and ZoneAlarm is not compatible either (yet). I think a lot of this will get worked out soon but as usual, I think Microsoft rushed this product out and it just wasn’t ready yet. As far as games go, I must say that mine run beautifully on Vista and that is probably the one area where I have had the least problems. My reccomendation would be to wait till fall before making the Vista plunge.
